mythology, Medusa was depicted as a terrifying creature, her beautiful
hair a nest of serpents; so awful to behold that her glance would turn a
man to stone. But in the 19th century, the legend of Medusa changed,
and she was recast as a hero rather than a monster. For Gianni Versace,
Medusa became a symbol of art, philosophy, and dangerous beauty.
